Shinobu Tanaka (田中 清信 in Japanese, also known as the Black Knight of the Empire of Shadows, is the nephew of Leiko Tanaka and Noriko Null‘s cousin.

Biography

Shinobu is the illegitimate son of Daichi Tanaka, older brother to Leiko Tanaka.; his father died of a drug overdose when Leiko was less than 16 years old.

His past is unknown as his existance was not publicly acknowledged by the Tanaka family, even after the death of Daichi Tanaka at Leiko’s hands.
He served as his aunt’s right-hand man in the Empire of Shadows, taking the codename Black Knight.

When Leiko was presumed dead after the Scribe‘s attempted invation of Earth, Shinobu revealed his real identity to Noriko Null. Since she refused to publicly reveal that Leiko was her mother. Shinobu took this aunt’s place as the face of the company and of the family.

Despite being gay, Shinobu married the young socialite Kasumi to protect his public image and to one day conceive a son to carry on the family business.

Shinobu allied himself with Hermes to use both his influence and the god’s powers to execute a hostile takeover of the largest Yakuza families. He later struck an alliance with Null and was instrumental into sending a message to the entire planet to prevent panic during the invasion of the Winter King.

He is an excellent hand-to-hand fighter and an expert in the use of traditional Japanese weapons. He is also proficient in infiltration and subterfuge.
