Rhea (/ˈriːə/ IPA, Ρχεα in Olympian) is the Greek Goddes of Motherhood, wife of Kronos and mother of the Olympian pantheon.
Biography
Rhea is one of the daughters of Gaea, wife of her younger brother Kronos and mother of all his children. She served as Queen Of The Universe under his rule, though it’s unlikely she had much personal power.
After she gave birth to Hestia, Demeter, Hera, Hades and Poseidon only to see Kronos eat them, she saved her youngest son Zeus from his wrath. Zeus defeated and possibly killed Kronos.
She retired to Asphodelus, keeping herself separate from most of the events in the Olympian Galaxy (often having trouble recalling even the most basic facts about her family).
She later prompted Inanna to host another Strongest Under The Heavens tournament.
Powers
Despite her low intelligence, Rhea is one of the most powerful gods of the Olympian Galaxy.
Immortality: Rhea does not age; she has kept her current apparent age for millions of years.
Flight: Rhea can lift her own body telekinetically. She’s been shown to be much faster than Enyo (who can fly 2 million times faster than light).
Invulnerability: By placing a mental lock on her molecular structure, Rhea can prevent her body from being harmed.
Godlike strength: Rhea is as strong as she thinks she is.
Godlike stamina: Rhea doesn’t need to eat, drink or sleep.
Universal translator: Rhea can understand any language instantly. People around her will have the same ability, but it will fade over time without prolonged contact.
Energy manipulation: Rhea defines herself as “the goddess of anything that flows”, which is her way to describe her absolute control over kinetic energy.
Notes
- Considering Vesta often invokes the name of her grandmother Gaea but never Rhea’s, it’s possible that she was mostly raised by Gaea
- She appears to be completely illiterate
- She’s physically identical to Vesta, the only visible difference being the lack of a navel.
Trivia
- She has claimed to have “invented” the human menstrual cycle
