Lampyria (\ˈlampɪəriə\ IPA, Λαμπγρηα in Olympian) is the birthplace of the Lampyrian race.

It was the setting for much of the “Supernova blues” storyline.

History

The planet used to belong to the Lar Empire, which included a very large research station.
The Harpies are one of the few indigenous species of the Olympian Galaxy; 1 million year ago, the Lampyrian race evolved out of the hundreds if not thousands of Harpies that had sexual relations with Zeus.
The Nexus host Teraph hid one of the Keys of Heaven on the planet.

The Vanguard visited the planet in 24 AD and faced Apollo.there.
Noriko Null recovered the Iron Key of Heaven and used it to move the planet to the Middle Galaxy, about 500 light-years from Hell.

Population

The planet is almost entirely populated by Lampyrians with minorities from other races, mostly visiting to enjoy the numerous and galaxy-famous brothels.

Thanks to the low gravity and the population’s ability to fly, Lampyrian cities are designed vertically and there are few roads.

Eralal is the planet’s largest city, serving as de facto capital.

Government

The planet is run by a loose coalition of oligarchs, representing the most powerful families of Lampyria. Elections are nearly unheard of, due to the limited lifespan of the Lampyrians.

The highest political figure is the First Chief, who resides in the Palace of the Government.

Geological characteristics

The planet has a very unusual look: the continents are red and the clouds are green, owing to the microbes living inside them.
The planet has a surface gravity of 0.4 g, lethal to humans.
Lake Ilorulel is a known geographical feature.

Atmosphere

The planet has an atmosphere full of nitrogen dioxide, toxic to humans, at an average pressure of 75 kilopascal. This makes exposure extremely dangerous to non-Lampyrians.

Native fauna

Harpies: blue-skinned half-bird half-humanoid, they can survive in space and have a very short lifespan. Nearly extinct in the wild; progenitor species of the Lampyrians. First seen in BTI 045

Ralas: twelve-legged dragonflies, the size of a school bus. Domesticated by the Lampyrians as transportation.
First seen in BTI 308

Lolul: insects similar to dragonfiles, eaten by the Ralas. First seen in BTI 308
